This 42 year-old Asian female underwent an anatomical chin implant surgery to enhance her jawline and chin. She chose not to have the “sliding genioplasty” surgery recommended by other surgeons as it would have required her to have her jaw broken and wired for six weeks. She would have considered that surgery if there were a medical indication – i.e. sleep apnea, but she did not have apnea. Since her concerns were simply cosmetic and not functional, she chose my recommended less invasive procedure. The anatomical chin implant was made of Medpor, a material that integrates into the body, as does a knee or hip implant.
