Congress passed a law protecting generic drug makers. They can’t be sued–so a patient who has a terrible reaction to a drug can sue Wyeth and get $8 million, but if he took generic version and suffered the same or worse fate, can’t get anything. Since it’s an election year, no one will speak out.
How is this different from doctors receiving a pittance on managed care and having to practice within their cost-cutting guidelines even when against the standard of care? Doctors are held to the highest level of accountability, why not generic drug makers? What do you think? Is this right? Do you agree/disagree?
